I heard a song once. It said "There will always be second chances and you'll always be on your first try" Well at first I did not understand this. What the heck did they mean? and to be perfectly honest I still don't fully understand. I bet you're now asking why am I writing about something I don't understand? Well 1. I don't FULLY understand. Totally different then not understanding. 2. That's not what the blog is about.
Here is what I believe they mean though. You'll get second chances but you're always on your frist try because you only have one life. You see the people that care about you (friends, family, the hobo that you just gave a nickle to etc.) will give you a second chance when you want. Not unlimited ones. Only a moron would get hurt twice by the same person because of the same reason (For future record people who have done this don't feel bad because I have too, but that's a story for another blog) Just remember if you take a second chance from someone, you better give them a damn second chance when they mess up.
I also like the saying excuses are like assholes, everyone has one. Okay yeah sometimes there are legit excuses but here is the thing "I couldn't do that because I ate a banana instead" is never a good excuse. Maybe because bananas don't take that long to eat or you can put your banana down for a second to do something. It honestly "I couldn't because I fell down the steps and got knocked out" is a much better excuse, because you literally can't do anything. So what I say is if you have a crappy excuse don't expect a second chance, because it's just not going to happen buddy.
So my final word about second chances, don't expect them without a good excuse but always expect to give them!

Wishes
When I was a kid I wished on stars. When I was a young teenager I wished on 11:11. Now that I'm 18 I wish in my heart, because there it seems like most wishes come true.
Yeah. Just opened up my blogger again and started a blog on wishes with one of the CHEESEST opening statements ever, but it's true. I'm not going to lie and say I still don't wish on stars though or on 11:11, because the truth is I still wish on the first star I see, every shooting star, and every 11:11, 12:12 and 10:10. Yep I love wishing!
But something has become clear to me lately. Wishes don't come true unless you make them come true. Say I see the first star and wish for Taylor Launter to appear in my living room. Well that's not going to happen, unless I take steps to make that happen (AKA Kidnap Taylor Launter or befriend him until he trusts me enough to come into my living room). So I guess wishing really doesn't work and there is no point to it...or is there?
Here is the thing I love wishing because it gives me one goal or gives me something to hope for. And let's face it world, without goals and hope your a couch potato who can only look forward to the new season of American Idol. But on the other hand you can be the person without goals and hope that is boring with no friends and looks forward to smoking pot in your parents basement at the age of thirty. Yep. Neither one sounds very fun to me.
But I wish to be neither one of those persons. I want to be the successful woman who is well respected in her community. See the wish reference. Wishing doesn't mean you wish and it comes true. It means your willing to work to make it true.
So my final word on this, the dictionary has the word wish defined wrong.

Rights, The First Amendment and Coolness.
Okay can I point something out real quick? Actually don't answer that, because it doesn't matter. I'm just going to say it anyway. And you can't stop me! You know why? Because this is my blog! Alright but anyway now that I have pointed out one of my first amendment rights it's time to continue. I have found out I have an extreme love for the first amendment! Don't stop reading because I just wrote that. I promise I'm not going to go all school house rock or magic school bus on you! By the way I loved those shows when I was a kid! But anyway can you imagine how much it would suck if you couldn't say things like, "I hate eating vegtables!", "You're crazy!" or "You lazy bum hole get off your rear end get a job and move out!" Okay maybe those aren't the best examples but there things people say to other people on a daily baisis! Maybe not to you, but to me for sure. Can you imagine how much life would suck without being able to say what you want? Or how about if you couldn't post what you wanted? Freedom of press people! Without it I wouldn't be able to post a blog or newscasters could say what they please!
Okay religion..how about that? How would you like to be forced to be a religion you don't believe in? It would be rediculous! Heck with out this freedom the government could have us worshipping John Stamos! (Don't get me wrong he is a good actor and he was quite fine back in his Full House days, but I don't think he is God).
Protesting is a cool thing too. The hippies out there are going to love this! I think we need to protest more! Okay we don't like something the government does. Call them out on it! Don't just sit back and let them walk all over you! They are not your mother! Take care of yourself and the people around you and do not let the government take care of your needs. You are more than capable.
Last but not least the freedom of assembly. Can you imagine a world with out concerts, schools, or dance clubs? Okay I know that as kids we all imagined not going to school. Heck some of us still wish we didn't have to go to school or that we didn't have school but with out this no one would be able to get together. Ever. There would be no parties or meetings. Heck we'd pretty much sit on the couch and watch T.V. by ourselves all the time. How much would that suck?
Mkay so this is more of a rant then a blog. So sorry about that. Hopefully the next one will be a little better. But I need to say all this and let it out. My final word today: The first amendment is cool.

Mother's Day
Recently I have tried to make a pie. Well actually by recently I mean today. It's for my mom and grandma tommarow because they like lemon meringue pie. Well let me tell you I have seen my mom make this pie a million times! It is so much harder than it looks! First you have to start by making the lemon center. Well let me tell you it seemed like a breeze, until I was informed I had not cooked the middle enough on the stove. So I put it back on the stove brought it to a boil and started cooking it some more. Then I found out I had cooked the lemony good center too much. Yes that is right. I had just carmelized the middle of my lemon meringue pie! I was unaware of this fact until after I had put the lemon center into the pie. Well you also have to make a meringue for the top. Which isn't as hard, but at the same time I had a slight fail at this. Well you see we don't own an electric mixer anymore, we just have one of those large kitchen aid mixers. I thought that there wasn't enough meringue stuff for the big bowl. So I got a small bowl and put it up to the mixer. Bad idea kids! Bad bad bad idea! My arms hurt so bad! My fingers got hit by the beater! I got a few small cuts on my hand! Not a good idea! So then I was told that I could indeed use the big bowl for this task. Luckly there is no way you can mess up pre made pie crust! All I have left to do is bake the pie. Wish me luck! I don't want to mess this up too!
I guess what I'm trying to do here is say I know I can't do everything thing, heck I probably can't do half of what my mom does! I can try but like you see above I still need her help. No matter how old I get or no matter where I end up I'm always going to need my mom. Weither I need advice for cooking or need someone to help me move or anything, I know she'll always be there for me. I know that tommarow when she takes a bite out of the pie I made she'll say it tastes good, even though I'm pretty sure it's going to taste like lemony carmel with some whipped cream on top. My grandma will probably do the same too. I gotta say I've got two of the best ladies in my life!
All in all my final word in this blog is I love you mom and grandma! I'm so lucky to have you in my life! Now everyone else go spend tommarow with your mom and let her know how lucky you are to have her!

1.2.3. Like a Bird out of Sea
Well I have no clue who sings the song that this blog is named after, but it is indeed a country song. Isn't half bad either. Just seems fitting for today's blog. What's the subject you may ask? Well since it's spring I figure it's a great time for a love blog (FYI this is a subject I do not know much about but hey I'll try to give a little bit of a final word on this) and a whole bunch of bird references (FYI I know a lot more about birds. Not a ton, but I can tell a robin from a blue jay!)
Well I guess I'll start by comparing a bird to love. Which now that I think of it they both have a lot in common. For one they both have the ability to fly. Have you ever noticed that? When you're in love you feel like flying and you feel like your above the world, just like a bird is. It's like you can see all the good in the world and you can see the whole world in one instant. You can see the world from an amazing point of view. Up in the sky were your the only one who can bring you down.
Another thing they have in common is that birds can sing and love makes beautiful music. Have you ever noticed over half the songs on the radio are love songs? Well if you haven't your either:
A. A freak who doesn't listen to radio
B. You're listening to too many political radio talk shows
C. You listen to classical music or the christan radio station (Nothing wrong with that but try expanding your musical tastes)
D. Deaf
But anyway you have to have noticed this! Just turn on the radio for an hour and listen to how many love songs come on! They come on just one after another! It's crazy! I swear if I ever become a musical artist (I really don't have the talent but if I do!) I will never ever have an entire CD dedicated to love songs! (*cough cough* Taylor Swift *cough cough*)
Another thing is that only two things can kill a bird, other than natural causes. Those two things are hunters and preditors. Hunters being your lover, because they are they have the option to keep you flying while a preditor does not. Preditors are the people who want to see your relationship fail. In my humble opinion those people are the people you need to ignore.
Well guess the only thing is that the bird decides where it wants to go, just like you do.
Well that's my final word on how birds and love indeed do have stuff in common!

Music in schools
I have participated in several musical classes and I have found many things. I found I really enjoy music and that I really like to play, I found people I like that I would have never talked to otherwise, and I have had a release of stress in the middle of the day. It also said that music helps improve your grades. I really think these benefits are worth keeping a music program around.
First of all I would like to discuss the topic of enjoyment and music. This is probably one of the most important things about getting a quality education, enjoyment. If students do not enjoy anything about going to school, they will have less of a reason to go to school and do their best. School was not made to have facts and information shoved in your brain for safe keeping, but to acquire the skills and tools we need to be successful in the future. We are not going to use all we learn from math, science, and many other subjects again, but we will take the enjoyment we found in music for the rest of our lives. Many people keep playing after school is over. More people than play sports after school. Music will be something students take for the rest of their lives.
Another thing students will take away after school is out is the friend they make. Students have the opportunity to meet people they would have never talked to in the past through music. The jock talks to the nerd. The popular girl talks to the goth kid. Music brings about an undeniable connection between people. It gives students a reason to talk to each other while still learning. Students many times help each other learn music along with the teacher helping them. This creates a bond no other thing in the world could create such a bond between two people.
Stress is present in the everyday student's life. Between school, friends, family, and extra curricular activities the average student has a lot on their plate. Music has been shown to be able to release such stress and tension in a person. If this helps student relax a little bit through out the day then isn't it worth it? Isn't making sure the student can relax for a moment and forget everything else worth having music in school?
Last but not least music students tend to have better grades and test scores. This has been shown many times. Learning is one of the purposes of school. Therefore shouldn't we keep what helps students learn in
school? Music helps students learn. Plain and simple.
Schools need music to improve their curriculum. Without it students will not have the quality education they deserve. I know music is something that has forever impacted my life and my of my friends who have done music. I will say this one more time. Schools need music.
